Music is a powerful tool for child development. The St. Thomas’s Choir School is a 3, 4 or 5-day after-school program for children in grades 1 - 6 that offers structured training in music/singing as well as exposure to a myriad of enriching activities in a Christian atmosphere.

Curriculum for Basic Musicianship:
Having structured training in basic musicianship is key to your child’s education. Through games and fun activities, the Voice for Life curriculum teaches:
• Teamwork/Belonging to the choir
• Music/Musical Understanding
• Vocal Training Reading
In addition, we realize that children at a first and second grade levels will need help with reading and pronunciation as well as writing. Their rehearsals are tailored to fit this need.
Music training:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Performance Opportunities:
As part our program, your child will sing and help lead worship on children’s Sundays throughout the year, normally the first Sunday of every month. We also have two concerts per year to allow you a chance to see your child sing in a concert setting.

Enrichment Activities:
We realize that children need a well-rounded program! In addition to excellent musical training, and supervised homework time, your kids will benefit from fun activities and the knowledge of renowned scholars in the following areas:

World Cultures
Health/Nutrition
Auditions
We don’t expect your child to have any prior musical training! Auditions for the choir school do not require any preparation. During this time, we will get to know you and your child, ask your child to sing a simple melody (like “Happy Birth- day”), match pitch and clap a basic rhythm.
