St. Thomas's music ministries have a long history of importance in the parish. (The congregation purchased an organ even before they had a building!) The noted American composer Charles Ives served as organist here in the 1890s.

Congregational singing is a keystone of our worship, and all worshipers are encouraged to lift their voices in song.

All of our choir members are nurtured in musical growth while preparing for their liturgical role as leaders of worship.

Our adult choir of volunteers and professionals sings at most services during the academic year, leading congregational singing and performing works drawn from the vast repertoire of sacred music.

The parish supports the musical growth of members of the local community by making its facilities available to various groups and individuals for rehearsals, performances, and recordings. St. Thomas's is the home of the Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus, which has rehearsed here since 1986.

The current organ was rebuilt in 1991 in the American Romantic style by the Aeolian-Skinner Company, and incorporates pipe work from earlier instruments built by Steere & Turner and Hall. The three-manual organ contains 3,000-odd pipes in four divisions.
