You are the body of Christ and individually members of it. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. (I Cor. 12: 27 & 26).
We have occasions both of sorrow and of joy.
On August 5, Mildred M. Bayless, the mother of The Rev. Donna DeHetre of St. Thomas's, died at the age of 96. This Friday at 11:00 a.m., the Burial Office will be read and the Eucharist celebrated with special intention for the repose of her soul. The service will be in the Lady Chapel at St. Thomas's. Mildred moved from Florida to New Haven and St. Thomas's last year. On Thursdays she was often able to join the Fiber Arts Guild, continuing her life-work in the church and volunteering to help others.
If you are unable to attend services, you may address your condolences to Mother Donna DeHetre and Dr. Claudia Libertin at 31 Edgehill Road, New Haven, CT. 06511-1343. dbdehetre@gmail.com 203-782-1814
On Friday, August 20, the pleasure of your company is asked for the Celebration and Blessing of the Marriage of Caroline Gottschalk and James Keating at 5 o'clock in the evening.
If you are unable to attend the liturgy, you may send cards of greeting and joy to Caroline and James at 20 Teele Road, Bolton, MA 01740-1118.
Please remember that all such announced services are occasions of public worship. You are invited and encouraged to attend, whether or not you personally know or are known to them.
Finally, Mother Mo asks that you be reminded "Sunday School and Youth Group are looking for a few more volunteers to help out on Sunday mornings or Sunday afternoons." We hope many people will be interested in doing so. Others may have questions, some may be considering volunteering, and there are a few who should, out of faithful stewardship to your gifts and talents, volunteer. In other words: the obedient—as well as the interested—should apply! Please speak directly with Mother Mo or contact her at chaplain@stthomasnewhaven.org.
Faithfully,
Fr. Ray+
