The Rev. Jakki Flanagan
(Volunteer) Associate Priest

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God.... [Romans 8:38-39]
The Rev. Jakki Flanagan (she/her) is an Episcopal priest and interfaith hospital chaplain. She served for seven years as the Emergency Department Attending Chaplain at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her Chaplain Residency was also at Yale, and her Chaplain Internship took place at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. She is a Board Certified Chaplain.
Jakki received her Master of Divinity from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California. She was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Vermont and has served on that Diocese’s Commission on Ministry. In 2013 she was appointed by the President of the House of Deputies to serve as Legislative Aide for the Canons Committee at The Episcopal Church’s triennial General Convention.
Jakki’s life before ordination included owning a coffeehouse, as well as working in the non-profit advocacy realm. Her advocacy work encompassed grassroots organizing, policy development, and lobbying in support of a broad range of issues, including universal health care, civil unions and marriage equality, and support for at-risk youth and survivors of domestic violence. Underlying all of Jakki’s work is the intention to foster community, and to create a safe space for individuals to engage in the sacred work of exploring their great hopes and fears while on their spiritual journeys.
