Tom Radice has been attending St. Thomas’s since 2007. Growing up outside Philadelphia, he was raised Roman Catholic, but became fascinated by Asian traditions in the early ’90s while studying theater arts at West Chester University. A crazy obsession with ancient China (and an utter disdain for practical career goals) led to a Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2006, he moved to the New Haven area to take a position at Southern Connecticut State University, where he is now Associate Professor of History, specializing in early Chinese thought. He discovered the Episcopal Church through his wife, Jennifer Ricker (a cradle Episcopalian), and was drawn to the Church’s blend of traditional rituals with the modern values of openness and inclusion. Tom and Jennifer live in Hamden with their two children, Rosalie and Andrew.
