Treasurer Diana Empsall moved to New Haven in September 2016 to join her husband Nathan, and immediately joined St. Thomas’s. A lifelong Episcopalian, Diana is an active volunteer in the parishes and dioceses in which she is a member. During her years in Washington, DC, she served on her parish’s Vestry, the Finance Committee and as a Lay Delegate to the Diocesan Convention. She also chaired the annual stewardship campaign for two years, the first of which saw a 20% increase in annual pledging. In addition, Diana chaired a Diocese of Washington’s Sustainable and Responsible Investments Committee. In her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, she led her parish’s sponsorship of a refugee family and served on the search committee for the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Kentucky. Professionally, Diana has worked in philanthropy and fundraising for nearly fifteen years. Currently, Diana works in the Development Office at Yale Divinity School. Prior to that position, she was a consultant for the Episcopal Church Foundation, where she guided parishes in discernment, planning and execution of capital campaigns. She holds a BA from Sweet Briar College and an MSc from the London School of Economics.
