Clerk Denise Terry came to the Episcopal Church from a Roman Catholic tradition (Albertus Magnus College, class of 1968). Denise’s professional life has been dedicated to education as a classroom teacher at Sidwell Friends School and as a tutor at the Kingsbury Center. Denise was formally accepted into the Episcopal Church at St. Columba’s Church in Washington, DC in 1995. She worked in outreach through an “I Have a Dream” class sponsored by the parish. She and her husband have been at St. Thomas’s since November of 2015. From 2012 to 2015, Denise taught Sunday School, was secretary to the Vestry, and worked to build a playground and a children’s program at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. They moved to a New Haven apartment to be near their daughter Amy Sheehan and her family. Denise spends summers in Falmouth, MA, where she and her husband are on the board of The Carousel of Light. In New Haven, Denise tutors at New Haven Reads and coordinates Sunday School at St. Thomas’s. She is a member of the Day School Board of Trustees. Don and Denise have four daughters and seven grandchildren.
